Traffic Police Tightens 'No-Horn' Drive; Honk Unnecessary And Pay Rs 500 Fine

In order to make the 'No-Horn' campaign more effective, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) is strictly implementing the 'No-Horn' campaign from today. Although the campaign was already in place since April 2017, it has not been effective in recent times.

There is a provision of a Rs 500 fine for blowing the horn without any valid reason. According to MTPD, no one shall blow the horn in circumstances other than the invisibility of vehicles coming from the opposite direction and the high chance of an accident if the horn is not blown. Similarly, in risky areas, only a small horn will be allowed to use.

The rule of 'no horn' will not apply to emergency vehicles, ambulances, fire engines, security personnel, hearses, etc. This provision must be complied with by private, tourist, and government-owned vehicles, including both two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

The 'No-Horn' campaign is being carried out in association with Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Padmakanya Multiple Campus, and Kantipur Dental College and Hospital.
